Began martial arts around the age of 8 when I started doing Karate. I once again found myself interested in martial arts when I took up boxing at the age of 18. Boxing lead me to my first MMA class by the time I was 25. From there I began training everywhere I could. Since that time, I have done Jiu-jitsu, Krav Maga, Kenpo Karate, Tung Soo Do, Muay Thai and Contemporary Jeet Kune Do. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Coaching Education (emphasis on Strength and Conditioning) from West Virginia University. While there I trained with the WVU Boxing Team and did many of my internship hours through Team Outlaw MMA and Blackhawk MMA. During these experiences I learned how to use the coaching techniques I was learning in school and also developed my philosophies. My degree has given me the edge as a coach/instructor and has been an invaluable asset in my journey. Also, while at WVU, I became a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and have developed collegiate-style strength and conditioning programs for MMA fighters, jiu-jitsu players and Boxers. In addition, I have instructed many classes and cornered fighters in the cage and on the mats. I myself have competed in the WV Toughman, jiu-jitsu tournaments and have done well in strongman competitions…. And I’m not done yet!
